Designing for Good.
We're thrilled to launch a new kind of designer partnership – Creative Growth for Cheeky, a limited edition art collection. Cheeky is teaming up with Creative Growth, Method, and Target to create a special collection dedicated to empowering and celebrating artists and designing for good.
About Creative Growth
Creative Growth Art Center is a non-profit organization that serves artists with developmental, mental and physical disabilities, providing a professional studio environment for artistic development, gallery exhibition and representation and a social atmosphere among peers.
The studio and gallery are based in Oakland, California and supports over 150 artists with disabilities.
Meet the Artists
Aurie’s work is largely inspired by the Addams Family and as a devoted fan of the rock band Kiss, she frequently pays homage to the group by painting the band or adapting their audacious fashion sense to otherwise mundane things like coffee cups or rainbows.
Regina made pastel and prismacolor drawings, which are primarily portraits of the people and places around her. Food images were a common theme in much of her work and her candy-colored palette further reinforced such content.
Regina practiced at Creative Growth from 1978-2006. She passed away in 2008, but her art lives on.
Highly animated and ever-enthusiastic, Susan's extroverted personality belies the quiet and ordered nature of her artwork.
Often beginning with a hand-drawn grid, she slowly fills in each shape in a deliberate, meditative process. Her idiosyncratic color choices reflect her mood.
