On Saturday we joined in the Wayfarer Foundation’s Third Annual Skid Row Carnival of Love! The event was created 3 years ago by Justin Baldoni. The goal of the carnival was to bring love, joy, and happiness to the residents of Skid Row by bringing games, hot meals, an array of wellness and legal services, dancing, and other carnival-esque activities into the streets of this inner-city hub. It is a day where we forget who we are, where we’re from and come together as people to celebrate love and happiness.

This was our second year getting invited by Justin and the team to join in on the fun. We decided to up the ante and create a “love” themed restaurant highlighting our new Valentine’s Day collection. We decked out the Union Rescue Mission lot with Cheeky plates, cutlery, napkins, our DIY-decorations to bring it all to life.

The most rewarding part of the day not only bringing smiles to thousands of Skid Row residents, but also serving over 4,000 meals within 3 hours! The Cheeky team was honored to curate an exceptional meal experience for our guests who often don’t get to dine in a nice restaurant or necessarily know where their next meal is coming from. And we did while having fun!

There were many other incredible services and activities available to carnival guests: arts & crafts, clothing drive, hair-cuts, feet washing, legal counseling, pet grooming, and much more!

The event wouldn’t have been possible without the 1,000+ volunteers who came together. It was amazing to see so many people sacrificing their Saturday to do something selfless. Powerful and overwhelming, this event brought so much love and light to people’s lives. A huge thanks to Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer team, Joe Moller Events, and everyone else who helped put this incredible day together. We cannot wait until next year’s #WeLoveYouSkidRow Carnival of Love!
