We couldn’t do what we do without the amazing support of our interns. At Cheeky HQ, our priority is making an impact on hunger here in the U.S., and we make sure to do so while having a good time. Our internship program is no exception.

Meet the hard working team that supported our summer marketing activities. From helping coordinate massive social media campaigns, running food festivals, to packing up boxes of new product to send out to Cheeky supporters – they’ve done it all. We decided to go to straight to the source, and have them tell you what it’s like to be an intern at Cheeky.

What does ending hunger mean to you?

My parents both came from rural communities in the Philippines and poverty was not an uncommon thing to see. When I'd visit, poor children would follow me begging for money or food. It's really heartbreaking to see them beg for something to eat, and it hurts me even more when I can't share equally. Although it would probably take more than just me to help fix this, hunger has always been a pressing issue that has affected my community. I want to especially help the children I meet in the Philippines so they don't go through these struggles anymore.

What other causes are important to you?

Another cause that is important to me is access to education. I was fortunate enough to be raised in a well-off family where my parents were able to enroll me in 1-on-1 tutoring sessions, after school programs, and SAT camp. It’s not fair that socioeconomic status stands as a huge wall for some people trying to access education because some families can't afford it. I have always believed that these privileges that I was blessed with should be shared amongst everyone. Everyone deserves a right to learn. I try my best to get involved in mentorship and peer counseling volunteer programs where I go to underprivileged or underrepresented schools and tutor the students there so that I can provide them with the same help I received when I was younger.

What is your favorite Cheeky product?

My favorite Cheeky products are the hot cups! I love drinking tea all the time and the cups are just perfect. I'm a college student so these are super easy to bring around with me to class on the go so I can stay up!

What's a normal day in the office look like for you?

Normal days don't exist at Cheeky! Every day I am given a new task, so it's never boring and keeps me on my toes! Singing throwback songs and taking funny Snapchats of fun office happenings are the only routine activities in the Cheeky office... but don't get me wrong, we work hard and play hard.

What’s your favorite project so far in your internship?

My favorite project so far is our hunger awareness Spoontember campaign with Feeding America. I was responsible for contacting community organizations to get involved with the campaign and I loved talking with people who have a common passion of helping end hunger in America! The fun patterns on Cheeky products are great, but the real reason why I am obsessed with Cheeky is because it is a company that gives back and helps end hunger. That's a quality that every company should incorporate into their business plan!

What's your favorite thing to do in the summer?

My favorite thing to do during summer is go to outdoor country concerts. I love throwing on my cowgirl boots and singing my heart out with my friends. Cole Swindell, Luke Bryan, and Brad Paisley are some of my favorites!
