Creative Growth Art Center is a non-profit organization located in Oakland, California, that serves artists with developmental, mental, and physical disabilities, founded on the belief that art should be accessible to all.
Meet the three Creative Growth artists that have their bold and beautiful designs featured on our products:
Aurie’s work is largely inspired by the Addams Family and as a devoted fan of the rock band Kiss, she frequently pays homage to the group by painting the band or adapting their audacious fashion sense to otherwise mundane things like coffee cups or rainbows.
Regina made pastel and prismacolor drawings, which are primarily portraits of the people and places around her. Food images were a common theme in much of her work and her candy-colored palette further reinforced such content. Regina practiced at Creative Growth from 1978-2006. She passed away in 2008, but her art lives on.
Highly animated and ever-enthusiastic, Susan's extroverted personality belies the quiet and ordered nature of her artwork.
Often beginning with a hand-drawn grid, she slowly fills in each shape in a deliberate, meditative process. Her idiosyncratic color choices reflect her mood.
