Hi I'm Dani and I'm the girl behind the cause at Cheeky.

You probably already know that for every purchase of one of our products, we help provide a meal to someone in need here in the U.S., but did you know that our give program doesn't stop there?

As a for-profit company with giving at its core, our goal is to learn as much as we can on the reality of hunger in the U.S. and support our charity partners by helping raise awareness to Americans nationwide. This is why we're always striving to stay up to speed with the latest news, findings, and trends in the hunger-relief community.  In addition, every month we venture out of the office and volunteer at local hunger-relief organizations to learn first hand what hunger means and what it looks like.

This month we teamed up with non-profit No Kid Hungry to learn about their Breakfast in the Classroom Program. In the U.S. 16 million children face hunger, that's 1 in 5 kids, and on average 3 out of 4 teachers say kids come to school hungry. How are our kids supposed to be ready to learn if they're running on empty?

We visited Fifty-Second Street Elementary School, part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, where breakfast in the classroom was introduced a couple years ago. In the L.A. Unified School District, 1 of 8 children live below the poverty line. Breakfast programs exist for qualifying children, but the greatest challenge is low turnout.
